It's simple.
Jesus was in fact fully God and fully man. But why is that important? Why is Jesus being God and Man a fundamental part of our beliefs system as Christians?
We all know that Adam messed it all up for us, and because of that we fell and live in sin. We are stained by sin, meaning we’re no longer perfect, we need to be saved, we needed to be saved. As well as someone who would take our sin, wash us white as snow, and redeem us from our fall. Someone who could bare it all, every single ounce of sin. I couldn't do it and I am sure you couldn't either. We needed a savior; Jesus. A man who was sinless unlike you or I.
”Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me." Psalm 51:5" from this we can see we are brought forth into sin through our mother and father. Jesus needed to be of an earthly mother but a heavenly father to be sinless.
Sinless, in order to be the atonement for all of our sins. If he was fully man and not God he couldn't be the atoning sacrifice, and if He was fully God and not man than he couldn't redeem our humanity. He needed to be both God and man in order to completely redeem our fall. We couldn’t do it ourselves so God sends his Son to complete what we couldn’t. He didn't have to and He didn't need to, but because He first loved us he chose to redeem us. “We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
He came as a baby through the virgin Mary and lived a life much like you and I. He was relatable because of the temptation he endured, but he was able to overcome it through his father. The sole purpose being to save a wretch like you and I
Thank You Jesus. I am humbled by such a response that our Heavenly Father had and thankful that I have been redeemed through Jesus Christ.
